According to Strategy Analytics, Apple’s iPhone X was world’s best selling smartphone of Q1 2018. Apple released three new iPhones last year with iPhone X, the premium iPhone for the 10th Anniversary of Apple’s iPhones. Along with iPhone X, the giant also released iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Surprisingly, all these iPhones are on the top position on the list of world’s best selling smartphones of Q1 2018.
Further report from Strategy Analytics claim that Apple’s iPhone X has cover 5% of the market share. According to reports, Apple has shipped 16 Million units of their iPhone X in the first quarter of this current year. The giant has shipped over 12.5 Million units of the iPhone 8 which covers 3.6% of the market share. While the giant has sold out 8.3 Million units of iPhone 8 Plus by covering the 2.4% of the market share in the global smartphone market.
What makes us all surprised is, Apple’s previous year smartphone, iPhone 7 took the fourth position with 5.6 Million Units shipped. iPhone 7 has set the record by shipping over 21.5 million units in Q1 2017. Being still in the list shows off the popularity of Apple’s iPhones in the market.
We all know that there are thousands of Android smartphones available in the market. Still Apple’s iPhones occupied four places on the list of the best selling smartphones of the year 2018 in the first quarter.
If we talk about the Android platform, Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A and Samsung’s Galaxy S9 phones are on the 5th and 6th position respectively.
According to Strategy Analytics’ Q1 2018 global smartphone shipments report, Xiaomi has shipped over 5.4 Million units of their Redmi 5A smartphone while Samsung’s Galaxy S9 smartphone took the sixth position with 5.3 Million units in the global market.
Furthermore, the reports also suggest that Samsung has just started shipping their newly launched premium flagship phones, Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones and still the Galaxy S9+ took the sixth position. Apparently, we hope to see the new Samsung Galaxy S9 phones to achieve the first position in the second quarter leaving Apple’s iPhone X and all the other smartphones behind.
Moving on to the other smartphone manufacturers, they have shipped over 292.3 Million units of smartphones in the first quarter from the total number of 345.4 million in the market with 84.6% of the market share. Most of these smartphones are running on the most popular and everyone’s favourite, Android Operating System. Huawei, Xiaomi, Lenovo, LG, HTC, Panasonic, Xiaomi and many other more brands are doing great in the market and covering good number of market share.
