RED iPhone: Apple is introducing the color Red for its iPhone 7 and iPhone Plus line up today. It is being called “PRODUCT RED Special Edition”. Although previously there were Special Red covers launched, this is indeed the first time that the actual handset is available in red itself. The new Red iPhone features a Red Aluminium finish, and is launching as part of Apple’s partnership with “RED”.
The new variant of the phone was released alongside an update version of the smaller iPad Pro, and the removal of the old iPad Air. The novel version of both smartphones have Red-coloured rear panels.
The iPhone 7 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD display, while the bigger iPhone 7 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch screen. Apart from that, other additions include a 12MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, 6-element lens, quad-LED flash, flicker sensor and more. The smartphones’ cameras use an Image signal processor to apply machine learning, for distinguishing between humans and other object in the image, adjusting the brightness and noise levels accordingly. They come in 128GB and 256GB internal storage capacities. It will be available on the company’s website and Apple Stores, at a starting price of $749 (roughly Rs.49,000).
Apple’s last color change to its iPhone lineup involved a new glossy jet black finish for the iPhone 7, and before that the company also introduced the rose gold option with the iPhone 6S. Today’s red option is perhaps the most striking of all the colors available for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
“The introduction of this special edition iPhone in a gorgeous red finish is our biggest (PRODUCT) RED offering to date in celebration of our partnership with (RED), and we can’t wait to get it into customers’ hands,” says Apple CEO Tim Cook.
The new, red phone will be available to order from 24 March, in both the normal and Plus size.
